Thank you for taking the time to reead our prayer update this week and more importantly, to pray into the issues we share. There is always much to consider prayerfully when we survey events and news in Israel, much discernment is required to get to the core of God's purposes and praying inline with those purposes, to the end of answered prayer.
This week, I share a few issues that I sense need covering in prayer today and will be on the intercessors radar for some time.
Terror On The Temple Mount
[Facts stated as of Friday morning, 10:00 GMT] - Terror takes a heavy toll in Jerusalem. Today, Friday, armed Palestinians opened fire upon Israeli police officers stationed at the Old City's Lion Gate. Two of the three critically injured officers have now succumbed to their fatal woundings and have died. A fourth victim was moderately injured after taking a wound to his upper body. His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Sources report that 3 Palestinian men went from the Temple Mount area to the Lion's Gate. There, they encountered the police officers and opened fire. They then fled back to the Temple Mount area, pursued by Israeli police staioned nearby. All three attackers were eliminated by the security forces.
The Temple Mount area is now closed for prayers today, the first time a closure has been enforced for several years.
PRAY for a cessation of the incitement that leads to these attacks. Payment by the Palestinian Authority to carry out these attacks is a factor and must be CONDEMNED by all. Utterly unacceptable and demonic.
PLEAD with God that the spirt of violence, so prevalent in Arab society, is curtailed and humbled, to stop innocent lives being lost to wicked terror.
PRAY against and EXPOSE the Palestinian Authority policy of rewarding Arab terror against Jews - payments for terror come from YOUR taxes, paid generously by the UK, EU and US as donor funding to keep the corrupt PA in office. There is no moderate force in Palestinian politics, certainly not Mahmoud Abbas. He has recently affirmed he will never stop payments to those he deems 'martyrs' in the cause of Arab terror. God will hold him accountable one day.
Mosul Liberated; Iran In The Wings
Please listen to our latest Middle East Update for background on the taking of Mosul by Iraq and coalition forces.
There is much uncertainty to what will be the long-term prospects for both Syria and Iraq when the conflicts are resolved and ISIS is driven out - Iran has been a major provocateur in driving the fighting in both countries and aligning itself with the best possible outcome of establishing its hegemony in the region. For Israel, this is the worst scenario.
Iran is commited to the destruction of Israel and makes no secret of its agenda. Whilst we wish for salvation for that nation, we have authority to pray and speak against those destructive forces who would attempt to subvert God's purposes for Israel and the Jewish people.
PRAY the world, especially the UN, wises up to the regional aspirations of Iran, of its blatant anti-semitism and posturing to be the dominant Islamic force in the Middle East. The scenario is both frightening, (as a potential nuclear power), and also prophetic. Persia arises....
PRAY for the humbling of Iran's leaders and religious pronouncements against Israel and the region. The sheer arrogance of the regime in Tehran defies belief but it shares its wicked ideology in the global arena with little reprimand.
CRY OUT to God that all the hellish energy behind the Iranian leaders and powerful Revolutionary Guard Corp will be brought to its knees - and one day call upon the name of the Lord. (A persectued church in Iran is ascending and multiple reports across the country testify to miracles and supernatural encounters with Jesus. Long may this continue and transform Iran.)
More Visitors Come To Israel
Despite what you may read in the press, people have decided to come to Israel regardless of circumstances. This is wonderful and we are thankful that new visitors to Israel are seeing for themselves the beauty and significance of the Land.
Visitor numbers are up this year from last year, particularly from nations such as China and Russia. Many are curious about Israel, its lead in technology and resilience as a nation in the face of much hostility.
Whatever the reason, tourism is booming and this feeds into the economy and develops a better understanding of Israel's place among the nations and an eye-opener for first time Christian visitors.
PRAY the trend continues; that many would come from the nations to bless Israel; to see first hand the challenges of the nation and be more sympathetic in what Israel has to deal with on a daily basis.
PRAY that visitors who are unsure or even antagonistic toward the Jewish state would have their eyes opened to the prophetic purposes of God unfolding over Israel at present. What God is doing in the Land and the Middle East is such a manifest sign of the age that it seems hard to believe people, believers, miss it. A visit to Israel can correct that and do more in 7 days of touring than years under a dry church pulpit - especially true for Church leadership to get to Israel for this very reason.
Thank you for praying with us. Have a blessed Shabbat and weekend.
