We worship God who is consistent, faithful, merciful and loving, who is to be feared and to be obeyed, to be trusted and honoured. He is a God of love, King of all kings.
Deuteronomy 32:4: "He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He."
Here are some thoughts to pray through from the week gone and looking ahead. Pray is vital and God gives us the immense privilege of co-operating with Him through prayer.
Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Praise Him."
Abbas Meets Trump
This week the PA leader Mahmoud Abbas met with President Trump. Trump stated that he is committed to helping find a peaceful settlement with Israel and the Palestinian Authority. Abbas is known for saying one thing to western media but at home in Arab/Palestinian circles, inciting violence towards Israel and speaking lies.
Abbas actually said "Mr. President, I affirm to you that we are raising our youth, our children and grandchildren, in a culture of peace." This is an outright lie.
PRAY that Trump and the advisors at the US Administration see through any lies they heard and that Abbas is exposed for what he is. Proverbs 21:6.
PRAY that the words spoken by Trump in support of Israel will stand and that he'll be firm and unbending in his stand with Israel not compromising to appease the PA.
PRAY that when Trump visits Israel later this month and meets with Netanyahu there will be a strengthening of support for Israel.
PRAY that Netanyahu will not bow to any pressure to compromise in a two state solution or giving of land.
GIVE THANKS that Netanyahu has already stated that Israel has no peace partner.
PRAY that Trump will not allow the desire to be a peacemaker lead him to compromise on what is right for Israel.
Remembrance Day & Independence Day
The beginning of this week Israel marked Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers of Israel and Victims of Terrorism, Yom Hazikaron. Israel fell silent twice during this time and for two minutes honoured the memory of those lost.
The following day, May 2nd, was Independence Day marking the anniversary of Israel's declaration of Independence in 1948.
This is a wonderful celebration marked with ceremonies throughout the nation. The linkage between the two holidays sends a clear message that the existence of an independent Jewish state is dearly bought.
GIVE THANKS for these days and the honouring of the history that bought Israel into it's independence in the modern era.
PRAY for peace in Israel. Psalm 122:6: "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! May they be secure who love you!"
This UN body passed the latest in a series of resolutions that is denying Israel's ties to Jerusalem. The timing was also poor as it came on Tuesday which was Independence day in Israel.
22 countries in favour of the resolution, 23 abstentions and 10 against. The UK and US were among those against.
Israel is described throughout the document as the occupying power and any historic or legal ties to the city. It seems incredible that history can be disposed of so transparently and without question.
PRAY that the obvious bias of the UN and it's bodies will mean it looses any credibility.
PRAY that the will of God may be done. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and the city of Zion to which our Lord will return one day. The land is that which God gave to His people.
Trump To Visit Israel
President Trump is scheduled to visit Israel towards the end of May. He will also visit Saudi Arabia.
PRAY that if it pleases God this will include the announcement of the US embassy being moved to Jerusalem. This will send a strong message but also could involve conditions or compromises.
PRAY that God will steer the minds and decisions of those participating, according to His perfect will.
Thank you for joining us in praying. May God bless you.
Have a wonderful Shabbat and blessed weekend.
