Shabbat Shalom

Psalm 111:10 tells us: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To Him belongs eternal praise."

God is awesome so we should be in awe of Him. He invites us to bring everything before Him and allow Him to have His way. To fear Him is to recognise His position, His Majestic presence and His authority. Fear is not to be negative and destructive but a positive reverence Him that seeks to walk in obedience to Him.

King Solomon in his wisdom explained that to fear the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Proverbs 1:7: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, fools despise wisdom and instruction."

When we fear God more than we fear man we are in the right place to receive instruction and to be obedient, to live with confidence in Him. In confidence and authority we can pray. Here are some matters to pray through this week.

Israel Prepares For Defensive Conflict

The IDF and reserves have recently completed military exercises in the south in response to the increasing strength of ISIS in the Sinai Peninsula.

PRAY that the IDF will be able to quickly react to attack and hold the territory they defend.

PRAY that the intelligence gathering will be accurate and useful.

PRAY for protection for the borders of Israel and for the populations living near to the borders.

ASK GOD to guide the leaders and commanders in the military.

PRAY that Israel will be protected from the nuclear threat posed by Iran.

The time of Passover is approaching. This most important of feasts celebrates Peach the passing over by the destroying angel and the sparing of the lives of the Jews and then their exodus from slavery in Egypt.

The blood they put on their doorposts saved their firstborns from death. The significance goes far deeper as the Lamb of God at a future Passover was to be sacrificed to give life to those who accepted His blood.

PRAY that as this wonderful family time of sharing Passover is celebrated in Israeli homes, in Israel and across the world, those who partake may know that Yeshua is the Lamb who gave His blood for their salvation.

2 Corinthians 3:16: "But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed."

PRAY that God will pour out His Spirit and touch the hearts of many this Passover.

2 Corinthians 3:14: "But their minds were hardened. For to this day, when they read the old covenant, that same veil remains unlifted, because only through Christ is it taken away."

Israel's Strength Is Her Achilles Heal

The tiny nation of Israel has a well equipped and highly trained modern military. It has technology that is world class and leads the world in many areas of research and development. It is resourceful and innovative in areas of medical science, environmental growth and sustainability. Israel is a wonderful country and amazing nation.

But, where is her trust and her confidence? Psalm 119:5-8: "Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. I will keep your statutes; do not utterly forsake me!"

PRAY for PM Netanyahu that he may put his faith increasingly in God and lean on scripture. Proverbs 3:7: "Be not wise in your own eyes."

PRAY that Netanyahu and his government will be wise in decision making and lean not on their own understanding but look to God for guidance. Proverbs 3:6: "In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

GIVE THANKS for the strength of Israel and PRAY that their strength may be in the Lord.

Israel Gives Its Condolences

This week has seen a terror attack in London. Our hearts go out to those who are affected and our prayers for their healing and comfort for the grieving. The response of the people has been to be defiant in the face of terror and not allow it to divide the city/nation.

The sad truth is that there was no unity to spoil. We are not a united people. Most significantly we are not a nation that fears God. We fear upsetting minority groups and fear being politically incorrect but, we don't fear the awesome creator who is God.

Trending hash tags, tea lights, lighting up the Eiffel Tower with the Union Jack and slogans of defiance on the underground may light up social media but these gestures are utterly useless in the face of the spiritual onslaught we are facing and the strongholds consolidating their grip on the UK.

Following the attack in central London Israel showed solidarity with the UK and offered condolence. Israel has dealt with many such incidents but, rarely do the nations offer support or express condolences to them.

PRAY for those who are suffering with their injuries and for those who are grieving.

PRAY that they will know comfort and peace from God and be equipped to deal with and cope with their situation.

PRAY that the church will respond by kneeling in repentance and pleading for God to show mercy.

PRAY that in this time of questioning people will seek God.

PRAY that the Christian church will welcome all but stand firm on scripture, not acquiescing to accommodate multi-faith initiatives that compromise the sovereignty of Yeshua or the sanctity of worship.

Thank you for joining us in praying. May God bless you.
Have a wonderful Shabbat and blessed weekend.
